New Payout Currencies — FAQ
This FAQ helps you send payouts in your beneficiaries' local currency, funded from your USDC balance. It covers the currencies you can pay, how to set up beneficiaries, how rates and fees work, tracking, and what happens if something goes wrong.
The basics
What is International Payouts?
International Payouts lets you pay beneficiaries abroad in their local currency, funded directly from your USDC balance. You create a beneficiary in the destination currency and send funds; a regulated local banking partner in the beneficiary's country converts your USDC and delivers the local currency on the beneficiary's domestic payment rail — often within minutes.
Which currencies can I pay?
At launch you can pay in 7 currencies:
| Currency | Country | Local rail |
|---|---|---|
| 🇧🇷 BRL | Brazil | PIX |
| 🇲🇽 MXN | Mexico | SPEI |
| 🇨🇴 COP | Colombia | Bank transfer (or NEQUI) |
| 🇸🇬 SGD | Singapore | Bank transfer |
| 🇭🇰 HKD | Hong Kong | FPS, CHATS or wire |
| 🇵🇭 PHP | Philippines | PESONet |
| 🇨🇳 CNY | China | CIPS or wire |
EUR payouts are unchanged and continue to work exactly as before.
How does it work, step by step?
- Add a beneficiary in the destination currency. The form asks for exactly the local details that currency needs.
- Create a payout from your USDC wallet. You choose either how much USDC to send or the exact amount your beneficiary should receive.
- Review and approve. You see the amount debited, the amount received and the conversion rate before anything is sent.
- We handle the rest. A licensed local banking partner converts your USDC and pays the beneficiary in local currency on their domestic rail.
- Track it end to end in the dashboard, via the API and through webhooks.
Funding & USDC
Do I need a USDC wallet to use this?
Yes. International Payouts in these currencies are funded from a USDC wallet only. You need enough USDC in your wallet to cover the payout (the amount converted plus applicable costs).
Why do I fund in USDC and not in EUR or the local currency?
The conversion is done at the destination by a licensed local institution in the beneficiary's country. Funding in USDC is what makes these payouts fast and competitively priced, and it's why the beneficiary can be paid on their local rail within minutes. You always see the full conversion, the rate and the exact amount received, before you approve.
Can I still send EUR payouts the usual way?
Yes. EUR payouts are unchanged and out of scope of this feature. Only cross-currency payouts in the supported currencies are funded from USDC.
Setting up a beneficiary
How do I add an international beneficiary?
Go to Beneficiaries → Add beneficiary and select the destination country and currency. The form then adapts to that destination and asks only for the details required there, plus the identity information needed to make the payout.
What information do I need for each currency?
You'll be asked for the beneficiary's local account details and identity information. The account details depend on the destination:
| Currency | Account details required |
|---|---|
| BRL (Brazil) | PIX key + tax ID (CPF for individuals / CNPJ for companies) |
| MXN (Mexico) | CLABE (18-digit account number) |
| COP (Colombia) | Account number + bank code |
| SGD (Singapore) | Account number + bank code |
| HKD (Hong Kong) | Account number + bank / SWIFT code |
| PHP (Philippines) | Account number + bank code |
| CNY (China) | Account number + bank / SWIFT code |
Alongside the account details, you'll provide the beneficiary's identity information — name and address, plus (for an individual) date of birth, nationality and a national/tax ID, or (for a company) date and country of formation and a registration/tax ID. For China and Singapore, the address must include the state/province.
Why do I have to provide identity details up front?
Collecting the right identity information at beneficiary creation is what lets the local partner accept and complete the payout the first time. Providing it up front avoids your payment being held up or rejected later for missing information.
What if I enter an account number in the wrong format?
The form validates local details as you type — for example a badly formed CLABE, an invalid CPF/CNPJ, or a missing bank code will be flagged immediately so you can correct it before saving.
What is a "payment method" and why am I asked to choose one?
Some destinations offer more than one way to deliver the funds. Where that's the case, you choose the method when you create the beneficiary, and a recommended option is pre-selected with guidance on speed and limits. The method you pick determines which account details are required.
Which networks are used for Hong Kong (HKD)?
Hong Kong supports FPS, CHATS and wire. FPS is the fastest and is recommended by default; CHATS and wire are also available. You select the one you want when creating the HKD beneficiary.
Can I choose the rail for other currencies?
Most currencies use a single local rail (for example BRL on PIX, MXN on SPEI, SGD and PHP on bank transfer/PESONet). Colombia (COP) can be delivered by standard bank transfer (recommended) or NEQUI. China (CNY) can be delivered via CIPS or wire. You pick the method at beneficiary creation.
Sending a payment & rates
How do I send a payment?
Go to Payouts → New payout, select your beneficiary and your USDC wallet, and enter the amount. You can fix either the USDC you send or the exact amount the beneficiary receives — the other side is calculated for you.
Can I set the exact amount my beneficiary receives?
Yes. You choose which side of the conversion to fix: the USDC debited from your wallet, or the exact local-currency amount your beneficiary should receive.
How is the exchange rate set, and when is it locked?
When you build the payout you first see an indicative rate to help you size the payment. Before the payment is sent you're shown a guaranteed rate: at that point both amounts become final. Nothing is sent until you confirm at the guaranteed rate.
The guaranteed rate has a countdown — what happens if it expires?
The guaranteed rate is valid for a short time, shown by a countdown. If it runs out before you confirm, the rate simply refreshes and you review the updated amounts again — nothing is sent automatically.
If your company uses an approval flow (someone has to validate the payout before it launches) and the rate expires while the payout is waiting for an approver, the system automatically fetches a fresh rate and asks the approver to re-confirm it once. The amount you fixed stays the same; only the rate is refreshed.
Who approves a payment?
It depends on your company's approval setup. If your company requires no second approver, the person creating the payout confirms the rate and sends in a single step. If your company uses multi-signature approval, the approver sees and confirms the exact rate as part of approving the payout.
What does it cost? Are there hidden fees?
Each payout is presented as a single all-in quote. Before you approve, you see exactly how much USDC is debited and how much the beneficiary receives at the guaranteed rate, including any local taxes that apply to the destination (for example Brazil's IOF). There are no separate hidden charges applied after you approve.
Can I add a reference for the beneficiary?
Yes. You can add a payment reference that is visible to the beneficiary.
Will my name appear on my beneficiary's bank statement?
It depends on the destination's local payment rail. On some rails your name (the sender) is carried through and shows on the beneficiary's statement; on others, the name displayed as the payer is that of the local banking partner who delivers the funds, and your name isn't shown in the payer field.
| Currency (method) | Your name on the beneficiary's statement |
|---|---|
| BRL (PIX) | No — the local partner's name appears |
| MXN (SPEI) | No — the local partner's name appears |
| COP (bank transfer) | No — the local partner's name appears |
| SGD (bank transfer) | No — the local partner's name appears |
| HKD (FPS) | No — the local partner's name appears; your name shows in the memo only |
| HKD (CHATS) | Yes — your name is carried through |
| PHP (PESONet) | Yes — your name is carried through |
| CNY (wire) | Yes — wire always carries the sender's name |
If it matters that your beneficiary can recognise the payment as coming from you — especially on the rails where your name isn't displayed — add a clear payment reference, which is the most reliable way for them to identify the payer.
Those are subject to evolution
How fast will my beneficiary be paid?
For most destinations the beneficiary is paid within minutes, depending on the local payment method. You always see the estimated settlement time on your quote before you approve, because it depends on the destination and the rail chosen.
As a guide, typical settlement times are:
| Currency | Method | Typical settlement |
|---|---|---|
| BRL | PIX | ~5 minutes (24/7) |
| MXN | SPEI | ~5 minutes |
| COP | Bank transfer | 1–2 business days |
| COP | NEQUI | ~5 minutes |
| SGD | Bank transfer | ~30 minutes |
| HKD | FPS | ~5 minutes |
| HKD | CHATS | Same day |
| HKD | Wire | 1–2 business days |
| PHP | PESONet | Shown on your quote |
| CNY | CIPS | 1–2 business days |
| CNY | Wire | 1–2 business days |
Instant rails (PIX, SPEI, NEQUI, FPS) usually settle in minutes; wire and same-day methods take longer. These times are indicative — the estimate for your specific payout is always shown on the quote.
Tracking & status
How do I track a payment?
You can follow every payout in real time in the dashboard, through the public API, and via webhooks so your own treasury systems can reconcile automatically. Once available, the destination payment reference is shown on the payout.
Can I initiate payouts by API?
Status tracking and webhooks are available via the API for everyone. API initiation and confirmation are available for companies that don't require a second approver; full API initiation for multi-signature companies will follow.
Payment limits
Is there a minimum or maximum I can send?
Yes. Each currency and payment method has a minimum and maximum amount per payment, on both the local-currency side (what the beneficiary receives) and the USDC side (what's funded from your wallet). The applicable limits are enforced automatically when you create the payout.
| Currency | Method | Fiat limits | USDC limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| BRL | PIX | 52 – 5,700,000 BRL | 10 – 1,000,000 |
| MXN | SPEI | 190 – 18,700,000 MXN | 11 – 1,000,000 |
| COP | Bank transfer | 37,000 – 1,650,000,000 COP | 9 – 400,000 |
| COP | NEQUI | 38,300 – 411,000,000 COP | 10 – 100,000 |
| SGD | Bank transfer | 13 – 200,000 SGD | 10 – 157,700 |
| HKD | FPS | 3,150 – 500,000 HKD | 403 – 64,000 |
| HKD | CHATS | 2,360 – 782,500 HKD | 303 – 100,000 |
| HKD | Wire | 459 – 39,000,000 HKD | 61 – 5,000,000 |
| PHP | PESONet | 574 – 18,500,000 PHP | 11 – 300,000 |
| CNY | CIPS | 69 – 500,000 CNY | 10 – 72,000 |
| CNY | Wire | 410 – 35,600,000 CNY | 61 – 5,000,000 |
Limits are per payment. If you need to send more than the maximum, you can split the amount across several payouts, or choose another method for that destination where one is available (for example, wire for Hong Kong or China supports larger amounts). Limits may change over time.
If something goes wrong
What happens if a payment can't be completed?
If a payout can't be delivered — for example the local partner is unable to complete it — the payout is cancelled and your funds are returned to your USDC wallet. You'll see the payout move to a failed or refunded status.
What if extra information is requested about a payment?
Occasionally the local partner handling a payout may ask for additional information or supporting documents about a payment (for example an invoice or identity/company document). If that happens, you'll be asked to provide it within a deadline. If the information isn't provided in time, the payment is cancelled and your funds are returned to your USDC wallet.
What if I entered the wrong beneficiary details?
Local account details are validated when you create the beneficiary, which catches common formatting mistakes. If a payout can't be delivered because of incorrect details, it is returned to your USDC wallet so you can correct the beneficiary and try again.
Can I send a payout to any country?
You can pay beneficiaries in the supported destinations listed above. Some countries aren't eligible; if a destination isn't supported, you won't be able to create a beneficiary for it.
